A Report of SSMC AAA in Action

For the first time SSMC Alumni Abroad members went back to college campus for a Scientific, Educational and Networking Session. On December 30, 2012 several of of SSMC AAA members gathered at SSMC campus for the event. The event took place at New Gallery One. Drs. Faruque Ahmed, Esha Khoshnu, Obayedur Khan, Jashim Uddin Khaja, Barnali Hasan, Rumana Sultana presented talks on their respective fields. Drs. Shahin Ahmed and Nilufer Sultana also attendd the session. Moderated by Dr. Obayedur Khan the event was attended by Teachers, Students and college Principal Prof. Dr. Dilip Kumar Dhar who was highly appreciative of such connection between current students and alumni. Becasue of lack of room only 4th and 5th year students were allowed to attend the session. College Principal Dr. Dhar was very emotional and performed a song "Purano Shei Diner Kotha" along with students and alumni. At the end of the session a question and answer session took place where students took keen interests and asked many questions.

SSMC AAA Lab Coat Award Ceremony to New Students

For the first time SSMC Alumni Association Abroad awarded labcoats to the incoming students of 41st batch. The event took place on December 29, 2012 at the New Gallery One where new students from 41st batch and their parents gathered for their orientation. The event was attended by Drs. Shah Mohammad Ali, Faruque Ahmed, Esha Khoshnu and Obayedur Khan who presented labcoats to incoming students on behalf of the Association. The event was attended by College Principal Prof. Dilip Dhar, Brig. Gen Zakir Hasan (an alumni from 9th Batch) Director Mitford Hospital and Departmental Heads.

SSMC Alumni Association Members Donated to Hurricane Sandy Victims

On December 16, 2012 Alumni Members gathered at Far Rockway, New York to distribute goods to Hurricane Sandy Victims. We have distributed dry food, water, Canned Fish,, Chicken, Fine Chocolate, Cookie and home materials from Home Depot worth more than $1000. Several of our members including our President Drs. Habibur Rahman, Treasurur Dr. Syed Jalal, Cultural Secretary Dr. Quamrul Islam Ponu, Dr. Shaheen Rahman Ranu, Dr. Esha Khoshnu, Dr. Mujahid Billah were there to personally distribute goods to Sandy Victims.

SSMC Alumni Association Abroad was presented with a plaque by SSMC Shandhani for significant contribution to their effort of serving humanity

Shandhani members also briefed Alumni Members of their current ongoing activities. Many Shandhani members were present during this networking session at the SSMC Shandhani office.

Donation of Blood Bank Fridge for Shandhani by Dr. Qazi Nazma Uddin

Members of the SSMC Shandani were very thankful to Dr. Quazi Nazma Uddin for the donation of Blood Bank Fridge. They aspect this type of cooperation will continue from SSMC AAA members.

PALS CertificationCourse at SSMC and Mitford Hospital

Finally for the First Time Ever BMANA with the help of SSMC AAA offered a PALS Certification Course at Mitford Hospital. Sixteen Pediatrician from SSMC and Mitford Hosiptal participated in this course which took place at Mitford Hospital Conference Room. Dr. Maksud Chowdhury, BMANA President also donated a defibrillator to Mitford Hospital. SSMC AAA also provided lunch to participants and instructors.

SSMC Library

Members of SSMC Alumni Association Abroad visited the college library and took keen interests about current opportunities available at the library. The library currenlty does not have a full time librarian. Library does have internet and WiFi access however there are only two desktop computers available for students to use. Many students do use their own laptops for internet access. Librabry does not have subcriptions to any online Journals or Books.

Traditional Hashem's Biriani

While visiting SSMC and Mitford Hosiptal we were entertained by Mitford Hospital Director Brig. Gen. Dr. Zakir Hasan, an alumni from 9th batch with traditional Hashem's Biriani. Members really enjoyed to have such a wonderful treat. Thanks to Dr. Zakir Hasan.

Many of our Alumni have worked hard and gave their valuable times to make SSMC AAA activities successful.
